I was hesitant about buying this because of the price and smaller capacity, but boy, am I glad I did! I go to bikram yoga, where the temperature is over 100 degrees, so I was skeptical that it would keep the ice from melting. I filled the canteen with ice at 2pm, went to yoga and filled it up with water at 4:15pm, and by the time the class ended at 6pm, I still had half a container of completely UNMELTED ice! I couldn't believe it! It almost works TOO well because I had to put more water in at the end of class for drinking because the ice didn't completely melt! Then I left it uncapped on my kitchen couter overnight with the left-over ice (about 1/3 full), and by the next morning, I still had about a little less than 1/4 container of ice left. Amazing! Have not tried it with hot liquids, but if it works as well as it does with cold, it deserves more than 5 stars!
A must-buy if you want an insulated container that really works!
12/19/11- UPDATE:
I tried the kanteen for coffee, and it does not work as well on hot liquids as cold, but still works well. I usually put my coffee in an insulated Nissan stainless steel travel mug, and it can keep the coffee hot for about an hour and a half. This was able to keep the coffee hot for about 3-1/2 hours. So, still works about twice as well as the average insulated coffee mug.

Use this every day, insulation is great. If you only drink water in it you will love it. If you ever drink sugary beverage, juice or such then this may not be the easiest bottle to clean due to the desight of the cap/gasket design. It is much more recessed and less accessible than the standard KK bottle. Despite this it is great and is easily my favorite water bottle in my current quiver. I wish if came a bit larger, the standard KK's are 27 and 40 oz but for the insulated we only go up to 20oz, what gives? make us a bigger one KK, please? One advantage if does have over the standard KK is that the drinking edge is solid, the bottom tiny opening on the rolled drinking edge on the regular KK bottle could trap small amounts of saliva/beverage and I don't think that is a perfectly sanitary design but I do love the standard KK's too

I bought this for my husband to take with him to work and use to make sure he gets his full 8 glasses of water a day. He is a busy man and left it in his personal fridge for a little over 2 weeks untouched. Knowing it is stainless steel, we didn't think it was that big a deal. When he drank the water it tasted like metal. I also tried it just to make sure and it DID taste like metal. We threw out the water. I think we expected too much from it. In any case, he knows better than to let the water sit too long. If you leave your water in it a day or two, it's fine. If I had a chance to return it though I would have. As for my husband, he likes that it looks like a "man's" water canteen.
